TheMaleWorld, in Pittsburgh, PA is best described as the model's home. I believe anyone can model. Only a certain person can be a model! That is what I strive to develop in each of the models I choose to work with. I believe that a model has been given certain gifts that allow the model to express his emotions, his feelings, his soul in each photo. I believe all of those are more important than the high priority we place on physique. I was a teacher for many years and I bring that to the table as well. I teach as the shoot develops.Models who have experienced this total immersion process, absolutely love it and learn a lot.
I have been in the photography field for 28 years and have been a stage director for 37 years. I bring a lot of acting technique into modeling as well to help you in expression and motivation. But when it all settles...it is YOU, the Model, that matters the most. I view our time together as a collaborative creative process. I only want to bring out the best in you! For you! and By You! WOW! is what we are after.
We will also do a complete evaluation series before we begin shooting. Too many photographers are only worried about what they can get out of you....I want to take the time, do the evaluations with you and talk about how we can use what we have learned in the shoot and to give you NO COST fixes to most of the problems we find. Models have shared how much they have learned about themselves and their bodies in these sessions. This includes a computerized scoring mechanism that will give you an idea of what areas of modeling you would be great in based on 31 scored body areas that are related to each field of modeling.
Every model I have worked with has left not only a better model, but a better person! Model references are available on request. All of our services are free of charge. We also offer rep and management contracts. I try to understand the model's needs while here for a shoot. Our initial shoot and evaluation is a three day/two night experience. These are scheduled around your schedule. Lodging and food is provided.
The model lives and breathes in the studio, based on the monastic experience and ideal that life and work should be one. The model doesn't go and become a model at a shoot....the model lives being a model!
NB: Lately, for some reason, the number of requests for models to bring someone with them to a shoot has increased dramatically. Please note that on most professional shoots, a set is closed--meaning that you, the photographer, and if needed, other staff membes, are the only people at a shoot. At your level of modeling, focus is one of the issues we try to develop during a shoot. Simply put, YOU ARE NOT READY FOR AN AUDIENCE. I have said NO perhaps 30-35 times and it would not be fair to say YES. The only times I would consider this is if the model is under 17 or if it is a duo shoot and the person coming with you is the other half of the duo. But, I don't do much of either of these exceptions. If this is a major trust issue for you, we need to talk...and perhaps you need to consider that you might not quite be ready to take the leap.

We are open for you to come in for a test shoot and to have a direct discussion with you on whether or not we feel you have the basic qualities common to models in general. Sometimes we pursue the wrong dream. Let us help you discern if you are being realistic about modeling.
